Country areas pull together to tackle family violence

Australian of the Year and anti-family violence campaigner Rosie Batty believes that regional towns like Mildura are in a unique position to address Australia’s family violence “epidemic”, suggesting that the culture of regional areas “pulling together” could be harnessed to help tackle the problem.

Speaking in Mildura at the Northern Mallee Local Learning and Employment Network’s AGM in March, she said family violence statistics in Australia have become “catastrophic”.
